Manager, Commodity Tax

Oversee day-to-day management of Indirect tax affairs, manage tax audits, and ensure proper monthly tax compliance. Oversee, review, and assist with the preparation of indirect tax returns and ensure it is filed accurately and on a timely basis. Stay current on sales tax changes; analyze implications of federal and provincial commodity tax rules, rulings, interpretations, and court cases, and communicate to the appropriate businesses. Manage federal and provincial commodity tax audits including participation to negotiate and settle audit disputes. Train, mentor, and develop other team associates to encourage cross training, succession, and compelling career paths. Determine federal and provincial commodity tax implications of recurring and unusual transactions with a view to minimizing tax cost. Interact with vendors, customers, and government officials. Design/improve processes to achieve operational efficiency and data accuracy with respect to commodity taxes. Participate in special projects as required for exposure rectification or opportunities.
