Job Summary
Provide strategic leadership to multidisciplinary Child Intervention teams by coaching staff to deliver high-quality, client-centered services while fostering engagement and accountability. Lead service delivery under the Child, Youth and Family Enhancement Act, ensuring compliance with legislation, provincial standards, and regional priorities. Champion continuous improvement by implementing ministry initiatives, applying systems thinking to enhance outcomes, and building collaborative partnerships with Indigenous communities and external stakeholders. Oversee program operations, including recruitment, performance management, budgeting, and resource allocation, while monitoring service quality and managing complex emerging issues. Promote family preservation and sustainable outcomes by shifting focus from child protection to prevention and collaboration. This role supports the Ministry of Children and Family Services' work in Northern Alberta, requiring a valid Class 5 license, travel to Grande Prairie, and adherence to specific recruitment standards.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Social Work with four (4) years of related experience including supervisory in a child protection environment
- Master of Social Work and three (3) years of experience
- Related university degree with four (4) years of related experience
- Related diploma plus six (6) years of related experience
- Experience in Child protection responsible for providing a full range of child protection duties delegated under a provincial or equivalent child welfare legislation
- Experience with Safety Phase and Intake Workflow
- Experience leading and managing a diverse team that does complex work
- Experience managing systems and processes including performance management, budgeting, and forecasting processes, human resources
- Extensive experience working with Indigenous and diverse communities
- Experience developing, evaluating, implementing policy initiatives, programs, and services
- Demonstrated capacity to build effective partnerships with internal and external customers, clients, staff, and stakeholders
- Strong planning, analytical, issues management and consultative skills
- Valid Class 5 Driver's License
- Access to a reliable vehicle
- Ability to travel within the region
- Registration and maintenance with the Alberta College of Social Workers (ACSW)
- Current delegation or previous delegation under the Alberta Child and Youth Family Enhancement Act
- Completion or in-process completion of the Foundations pathway in the Ministry's ICUF
- Completion or in-process completion of the Relationship and Culture pathway in the Ministry's ICUF
- Clear Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Check
- Intervention Record Check (if applicable)
- 5-Year Commercial Driver's Abstract
