Job Summary
Manages programs and projects related to child and family health (HBHC, clinics and outreach) and substance use prevention activities, with strategic and systems planning, staffing, resources, and budget administration. Supervises Public Health Nurses, Family Visitors, students, and volunteers; leads program planning with partners; oversees CHPS and tobacco/enforcement activities; develops operational plans, evaluates outcomes, and ensures data collection and reporting to MOH and partners. Advocates for policy development, collaborates with community and health system partners, and supports training, evaluation, and research initiatives; manages contracts, procurement, and on-call coverage, while aligning with public health standards and equity objectives.
Required Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in a health-related field (or an equivalent combination of education and experience) plus progressively responsible related public health experience
- Knowledge of Ontario Public Health Standards, Health Protection and Promotion Act, Smoke-Free Ontario Act, Cannabis Act, E-Cigarettes Act
- Leadership skills to manage, train, develop, motivate, and support staff
- Experience in strategic planning, data analysis, and program evaluation
- Ability to develop solutions for crises involving infants/children
- Ability to travel within and outside Waterloo Region
- Excellent communication and collaboration with multiple stakeholders
- Experience supervising multidisciplinary teams
- Budget preparation and financial management familiarity
- Knowledge of program development, policy and governance
- Ability to conduct literature reviews and stay current
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and data reporting tools
- Ability to work in alignment with equity and community engagement principles
