Job Summary
Lead category management for Abbott Nutrition (AN) Primary Packaging within Global Procurement. Partner with stakeholders to define and implement global category strategy, drive the One AN and Abbott Procurement vision, and manage all category contractual obligations including negotiation. Influence initiatives, develop actionable implementation plans, and drive Total Cost of Ownership reductions through analytics and continuous improvement (design for sourcing, process mapping, cost efficiencies). Own supplier performance, monitor market dynamics and pricing, ensure value for money and business continuity, and foster collaboration across divisions. This role reports to the Senior Category Manager of Packaging in Global Procurement and requires 7+ years of related experience, a packaging-related degree (or technical engineering with procurement experience), and strong project management, communication, and leadership abilities. Location options include Columbus, OH or Chicago, IL with standard in-person work; Abbott provides extensive benefits and equal opportunity employment. Required Qualifications
- 7+ year track record within procurement and supply chain management including engineering and/or technical category experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Packaging with supply chain experience or a technical engineering degree with relative procurement experience
- Master’s degree is preferred
- Strong project management skills
- Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
- Some experience leading teams
- Strong interdisciplinary, intercultural, influence, and networking skills
- Strong contracting skills
- Experience with Supplier management
