Job Summary

Direct the daily operation, maintenance, and repair of electrical, mechanical, HVAC, and building automation systems to ensure safe, reliable, and uninterrupted building services. Provide technical leadership and line management for department operations, personnel, and administrative activities while exercising fiscal responsibility for the department budget and expense control. Prioritize services for direct reports and resolve employee and service-related issues in accordance with Laboratory policies and collective bargaining agreements. Collect and analyze data to present information to senior management, interpreting management directives and communicating effectively across all organizational levels.

Required Qualifications

  • Knowledge of engineering principles as they apply to the design and operation of building services
  • Knowledge of building automation systems, controls, metering, computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS), and predictive and preventive maintenance systems
  • Proficiency in collecting and analyzing data and presenting information to senior management
  • Ability to investigate and resolve employee and service-related issues in accordance with Laboratory policies and collective bargaining agreements
  • Demonstrated skill in conflict management, interpersonal relations, training, and promoting team effectiveness
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to interpret and implement management directives and communicate effectively with all levels of the organization, from senior leadership to front-line union employees
  • Familiarity with policies and procedures governing finance, personnel, procurement, ES&H, collective bargaining agreements, and labor relations

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 10+ years of experience
