Job Summary
Lead day-to-day operations of the Biofluids Laboratory, overseeing specimen collection, processing, storage, and distribution for cancer researchers. Manage a team of laboratory professionals through hiring, onboarding, performance management, and training while ensuring compliance with SOPs, quality standards, and safety requirements. Oversee budget expenditures, equipment purchases, vendor relationships, and inventory management to support efficient service delivery. Evaluate workflow deviations, develop laboratory manuals, and implement new technologies and process improvement initiatives. Serve as the primary technical resource for staff and investigators regarding protocol implementation and project planning. Monday – Friday, 37.5 hrs. Location: 1275 York Avenue, NYC. Reporting to MSK Biobank and Pathology Core Leadership.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences, Laboratory Sciences, Biotechnology, or a related field
- 7+ years of experience in a research laboratory, biobank, pathology, or core facility environment
- Previous experience leading laboratory operations and supervising scientific or technical staff
- Experience managing budgets, laboratory resources, equipment, and operational planning
- Knowledge of biospecimen processing, quality systems, regulatory compliance, and research support services
- Strong leadership, communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills
