Job Summary
The Accounting Manager will oversee financial management, reporting, budgeting, and team leadership for the Retirement portfolio, delivering monthly financial reporting, consolidated analysis, and stakeholder reviews. Responsibilities include coordinating annual operating budgets, assisting with forecasts, ensuring acquisitions are integrated into systems, and leading training on financial processes. The role requires supervising and developing a team of property accountants, partnering with Operations and Senior Management, and driving process improvements in the finance function.
Required Qualifications
- University degree in Business, Finance, or related discipline
- Professional accounting designation (CPA) or equivalent work experience
- 1-3 years of experience in financial management positions
- 3-5 years of progressive experience in accounting or finance roles
- Strong knowledge of IFRS and Canadian GAAP
- Knowledge of industry-specific accounting principles
- Proficiency in EFP software and Microsoft Office
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to perform in a fast-paced environment
- Occasional travel to properties and external meetings
- Flexibility to work irregular hours when required
