Job Summary
Manager, Accounting hybrid role in Stamford, CT overseeing end-to-end monthly, quarterly, and annual close across the general ledger, journal entries, reconciliations, and reporting, while owning accounts payable, auditor coordination, and process improvements. The position requires deep US GAAP expertise, experience with external audits, ERP proficiency (NetSuite/Oracle/SAP), and a strong, self-directed, senior-level contributor capable of independent ownership with a hybrid on-site schedule (two on-site days per week). Responsibilities include close management, complex accounting analyses (prepaid expenses, accruals, fixed assets, lease accounting ASC 842, clinical/research cost tracking), financial statement preparation, management reporting, audit support, and driving continuous improvements across controls and systems.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related discipline required
- CPA designation strongly preferred and may be required
- Minimum of 3 years of progressive accounting experience
- Strong knowledge of US GAAP and Public accounting experience (Big 4 or national firm)
- Experience with ERP systems (NetSuite, Oracle, SAP) and Microsoft Excel
- SOX/compliance knowledge
- Experience with accounts payable platforms and financial reporting systems
- Ability to operate independently on complex accounting matters
- Strong cross-functional communication skills
- Proactive continuous improvement mindset
- Experience preparing audit-ready workpapers and reconciliations
