Job Summary
Mammography Technologist I performs screening and diagnostic mammography procedures to support detection and diagnosis of breast diseases. Responsibilities include high-quality imaging through proper positioning, technique, and compression; adherence to radiation safety standards; maintaining QC per ACR and FDA/MQSA; reviewing orders and patient history; educating patients on breast health; assisting radiologists with mammography-guided procedures such as fine needle aspiration, needle localizations, and biopsies; preparing patients for procedures and providing post-procedure care guidance; accurate documentation and image storage; managing inventory and supplies; and ensuring safety and compliance with state, federal, and accreditation requirements. Requires proficiency in mammographic positioning, imaging techniques, radiation safety, PACS/EMR operation, and strong communication with patients and care teams; licenses and certifications as listed are required or expected within six months of hire.
Required Qualifications
- 1-3 years of experience in radiologic imaging required
- 2-4 years experience as a mammographer in an acute care hospital setting preferred
- Licensed Radiologic Technologist as applicable by state required
- ARRT Radiography Certification required
- (M) ARDMS or ARRT - Mammography certification or eligibility to obtain within six (6) months of hire required
- BCLS - Basic Life Support required
