Job Summary
Mammography Technologist I performs screening and diagnostic mammography procedures to aid detection and diagnosis of breast diseases. Responsibilities include accurate imaging with proper positioning and compression, adherence to radiation safety and infection control, routine quality control testing per ACR/FDA/MQSA, reviewing orders and patient history, patient education on breast health and procedure expectations, assisting radiologists with mammography-guided procedures (e.g., FNA, needle localizations, biopsies), preparing patients for invasive procedures, maintaining documentation and image storage per regulations, and managing inventory for daily operations. Requires proficiency in mammographic positioning, imaging techniques, PACS/EMR, and strong communication with empathy and professionalism. Licensure/certifications include state-licensed radiologic technologist, ARRT radiography, and ARDMS/ARRT mammography eligibility within six months, plus BCLS; 1-3 years imaging experience; 2-4 years mammography experience preferred; knowledge of FDA/MQSA and ACR regulatory requirements.
Required Qualifications
- Licensed Radiologic Technologist as required by the state
- ARRT Radiography Certification required and (M) ARDMS or ARRT - Mammography certification or eligibility to obtain within six (6) months of hire required
- BCLS - Basic Life Support required
- 1-3 years of experience in radiologic imaging required
- 2-4 years of experience as a mammographer in an acute care hospital setting preferred
- Knowledge of FDA/MQSA, ACR, and state regulatory compliance requirements for mammography
