Mammography Technologist

Job Summary
Perform screening and diagnostic mammography procedures to assist in the detection and diagnosis of breast diseases through proper positioning, technique, and compression. Adhere to safety protocols, radiation protection standards, and infection control guidelines while ensuring equipment functionality via routine quality control testing. Review physician orders and patient history to verify procedures, educate patients on breast health and procedure expectations, and assist radiologists with specialized procedures including fine needle aspiration and biopsies. Maintain accurate documentation, manage mammography inventory, and comply with FDA/MQSA and ACR regulatory standards. Requires a Licensed Radiologic Technologist with ARRT certification and ARDMS eligibility.
Required Qualifications
- 1-3 years of experience in radiologic imaging
- Licensed Radiologic Technologist as applicable by state
- ARRT Radiography Certification
- ARDMS or ARRT - Mammography certification or eligibility to obtain within six (6) months of hire
- BCLS - Basic Life Support
- Proficiency in mammographic positioning, imaging techniques, and radiation safety standards
- Strong understanding of FDA/MQSA, ACR, and state regulatory compliance requirements for mammography
- Knowledge of aseptic and surgical techniques for mammography-guided procedures
- Attention to detail in documenting patient information, reports, and image storage requirements
- Proficiency in PACS, electronic medical records (EMR), and mammography equipment operation
- Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills in technical troubleshooting and patient care situations
Desired Qualifications
- 2-4 years experience as a mammographer in an acute care hospital setting
