Job Summary
Operate mammography equipment and accessories in accordance with accepted standards of practice while minimizing radiation exposure to patients, staff, and the healthcare team. Assess clinical situations with discretion to obtain pertinent information for physician diagnosis and treatment, acting within the legal scope of practice and federal, state, and local regulations. Perform services under your own Texas Radiology Technologist license, maintaining accountability for quality of care and continuing competence through lifelong learning and reflection. Complete 40 hours of mammography training and 25 supervised exams within the first year, adhering to ARRT registry requirements and Total Joint & Spine Center education mandates.
Required Qualifications
- Current State of Texas License as a Radiology Technologist
- ARRT registered in Mammography or registry eligible
- Must pass mammography registry within 12 months of hire date
- 15 mammography direct CEU credit hours in a rolling three-year time period
- 24 CEU credit hours required for ARRT
- Minimum of 1 year of experience as a diagnostic technologist
- Documented 40 hours of mammography training
- Completion of 25 exams under direct supervision of an experienced technologist
- Ability to stand, walk, sit, stoop, reach, lift, see, speak and hear
- Lifting capability limited to 35 lbs for clinical staff
- Lifting capability limited to 50 lbs for non-clinical staff
- Ability to use an assisted-lift device or get another individual(s) to assist with lifts over maximum limits
