Job Summary
Yorktown Systems Group, Inc. (YSG) and The Unconventional (TU) are seeking qualified linguists to support current and future foreign language and linguistic requirements across YSG and TU portfolios, including interpretation, translation, transcription, and other Linguistic Support Services (LSS) for current clients and potential government contracts. Responsibilities may include in-person and virtual interpretation, translating written/audio/video materials, reviewing/editing documents, and delivering foreign language instruction in classroom or virtual settings. This evergreen requisition supports multiple opportunities and is not tied to a specific client, project, organization, or location; candidates may be considered for a range of language support roles as needs arise.
Required Qualifications
- Proficiency in English at ILR level 2+ for CAT I/II; CAT I may be locally hired with security vetting (no clearance required)
- CAT II: U.S. citizen with security vetting; may be granted interim SECRET access for contract purposes
- CAT III: ILR level 3 in English; U.S. citizen with TOP SECRET clearance with SCI access OR interim TS clearance with SCI access
- Ability to provide idiomatic translations between English and foreign language(s) with correct syntax and expression
- Ability to perform consecutive, accurate translation and interpretation of ongoing conversations
- Experience delivering foreign language instruction to adult learners
- Familiarity with local culture and customs and ability to operate in harsh environments
- Ability to work effectively as part of a highly trained professional team
- Speak English and foreign language fluently, including regionalisms and slang
- Preserve tone and register of source materials
- Willingness to live and work in mission-driven environments
- Security clearance eligibility as required by Cat I/II/III roles
