Job Summary
On-call Lead Trauma-Informed Mental Health Therapist stationed in San Diego, CA, providing essential leadership coverage and clinical oversight for DHS-related care in federal facilities. Serve as primary behavioral health point of contact for DHS leadership on-site across day, night, and weekend shifts as needed. Supervisor to a team of Child Well-Being Specialists, liaison between on-site team, CBP leadership, DHS headquarters, and internal program teams; advise on complex child-well-being cases and deploy surge support to ensure timely, high-quality trauma-informed interventions. Responsibilities include coordinating staffing allocations, shaping program excellence through policy updates and system-level improvements, mentoring staff through training and performance reviews, and maintaining flexible on-site/on-call coverage (8 hours onsite + 4 hours on-call; shifts may include days, nights, weekends, and holidays). Requires Master’s or Doctoral degree in a behavioral health field, an active license (LCSW/LICSW, LMFT, LPC, or LP), minimum 5 years post-licensure experience, minimum 2 years supervisory experience, and strong leadership/communication skills; bilingual in Spanish/English preferred.
Required Qualifications
- Master’s or Doctoral degree in a behavioral health field
- Active, unrestricted license in one of: LCSW/LICSW, LMFT, LPC, LP
- Minimum 5 years post-licensure experience in child development, trauma-informed care, and clinical evaluation
- Minimum 2 years supervisory/leadership experience in healthcare, behavioral health, or social services
- Spanish/English bilingual preferred (ILR 3/5 or equivalent)
- Ability to operate in dynamic, fast-paced environments
