Job Summary
The YMCA Honolulu invites applications for the Director of Aquatics. This leadership role oversees all aspects of aquatics programs, services, staff, and facilities, including daily operation of aquatic facilities, program development, staff supervision, pool safety, risk management, scheduling, and budget administration. The role ensures delivery of high-quality, mission-driven aquatic experiences aligned with youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility while upholding safety and customer service standards. Responsibilities include developing and evaluating aquatics programs, overseeing swim lessons and lifeguard services, managing budgets, leading staff development and certification adherence, coordinating facility operations and maintenance, engaging with the community, and ensuring compliance with YMCA policies and health and safety regulations.
Required Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma or GED required; Bachelor's Degree in Recreation, Physical Education, Sports Management, Business Administration, or a related field preferred
- Certifications: Current Lifeguard Certification required; Current CPR/AED and First Aid Certification required; Swim Lesson Instructor Certification required; Certified Pool Operator (CPO) certification preferred; TB Clearance required
- Experience: Minimum three to five years of progressively responsible aquatics leadership experience; Experience supervising staff and volunteers; Experience developing and managing aquatic programs; Experience with budgeting and fiscal management preferred; Knowledge of pool operations, risk management, and aquatic safety standards
