Job Summary
Major Gifts Officer at Scripps College leads fundraising efforts across Southwest and East Coast territories, managing a strategic portfolio of 125–150 major and leadership gift prospects and driving gifts from $25,000 to $500,000+. Responsibilities include cultivating, soliciting, negotiating, and stewarding donors; developing multi-year fundraising strategies; preparing proposals and gift agreements; collaborating with advancement teams; traveling 5–15 days per month for donor engagement; and representing the College at regional events. Strong relationship-building, analytical thinking, pipeline management, and capable communication with senior leadership and high-capacity donors are essential. The role may involve some remote work with in-person engagement as needed, and requires up-to-date donor relations and CRM proficiency (Raiser's Edge, GiveCampus or similar). Salary ranges are determined by campus location: California $90,000–$102,000 annually or New York $90,000–$97,500 annually.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field
- minimum 3 years of experience in non-profit fundraising, higher education development, or related field; preferred 5 years
- Demonstrated success in securing major gifts and managing donor relationships
