Job Summary
The Major Gifts Officer is responsible for creating and implementing a comprehensive major donor and planned giving program, focusing on developing and maintaining a portfolio of individual donors and prospects. Essential duties include providing support for major gift solicitations, leading fundraising events, and executing donor stewardship initiatives. The position requires strong interpersonal and organizational skills, as well as proficiency in fundraising database software. The ideal candidate should have a background in non-profit fundraising with experience in managing donor relationships.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience
- Three to five years of non-profit fundraising, specializing in major and planned giving experience
- Demonstrated track record of successfully closing major gifts, including both outright and planned contributions
- At least three years’ experience in developing a systematic program that builds and sustains strong and lasting relationships with donors
- Experience with fundraising database software, preferably Raiser’s Edge
Desired Qualifications
- Knowledge of and experience with individual donor and planned giving strategies
- Experience with program-based targeted campaigns
- Familiarity with marketing and public relations strategies
- Familiarity with San Francisco’s philanthropic community
