Major Gift Officer

Job Summary
Remote Major Gift Officer responsible for managing a nationwide donor portfolio with capacity to model and secure gifts of $5,000+; aims to raise at least $1M annually through new donor acquisition and relationship cultivation. Responsibilities include qualifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding major donors; planning donor-focused events; aligning donor interests with MRC priorities through tailored proposals; maintaining donor records in Salesforce; and traveling up to 40% for in-person engagement across the United States. Requires entrepreneurial, relationship-driven approach and strong written/verbal communication skills to present persuasive proposals and ensure alignment with the organization’s mission to promote media balance and accountability.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of fundraising experience or related field
- Experience closing gifts of $10,000 or more
- Portfolio management of individual donors
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- Experience with CRM platforms, preferably Salesforce
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Ability to travel up to 40% for donor meetings and events
