Job Summary
Conduct openings and closings for interments, entombments, inurnments, and disinterments while installing memorials and markers at cemetery grounds. Perform grounds and funeral home facilities maintenance, including setting, installing, and assembling foundations, and handling outer burial containers. Respond to client requests for service and complete work orders, ensuring 25-foot radius preparation for burials with clean, neat areas. Fill graves, tamp, seed, or sod, and maintain company assets through preventive machine and equipment checks. Adhere to safety rules, Universal Precautions, and the Dignity Memorial Promise while completing assigned training. Operate heavy machinery such as backhoes and tractors, lift up to 30 lbs, and work in adverse weather conditions. Support families at difficult times as part of the largest funeral and cemetery services provider in North America.
Required Qualifications
- High School degree or equivalent
- Minimum of six (6) months experience operating standard equipment
- Acceptable driving record
- Applicable license(s) to operate equipment/vehicles
- Ability to operate hand-held tools and equipment, including, but not limited to a shovel, pick, rake, sledge hammer, lawn mower, weed trimmer, leaf blower, chain saw and pump
- Ability to operate mechanical equipment including, but not limited to, a dump truck, tractor, utility vehicle, marker trailed, dump trailer, jack hammer, tamper and backhoe
- Ability to accurately use measuring devices (i.e. tape measure, yardstick, etc.)
- Ability to communicate effectively with fellow associates, contractor personnel and client families
- Ability to lift heavy objects up to 30 lbs.
- Ability to work in various adverse weather conditions
- Understands safety and security issues and implications
- Mechanical aptitude
- Ability to use Back Hoe
- Mechanical aptitude required
