Job Summary
Maintenance Worker responsible for maintaining cemetery, mausoleum and funeral home grounds, including lawn care, grave location, digging, installing crypt faces, and handling interments, entombments and inurnments. Performs setup for openings and closings of graves, arranges chapel spaces, prepares crypts, and may operate a backhoe under supervision. Tasks include installing grave markers and monuments, maintaining markers and cemetery features, performing general facility maintenance (including minor repairs and painting), driving/operating equipment, and ensuring safety and regulatory compliance (OSHA and related guidelines). Must be able to cut grass, lay sod, clear debris, and respond to seasonal weather-related needs, with ability to lift and move heavy objects and work with clients and families.
Required Qualifications
- High school education or equivalent or relevant work experience
- Minimum 6 months of relevant experience
- Ability to operate hand-held tools and equipment (shovel, pick, rake, sledge hammer, lawn mower, weed trimmer, leaf blower)
- Ability to walk/stand for long periods
- Ability to lift up to 150 lbs with equipment assistance
- Ability to push/pull up to 300 lbs
- Effective communication with associates, contractor personnel and client families
- Work in extreme weather conditions
- Adapt to changing work schedules and multi-task
