Job Summary
Maintenance Worker needed to maintain cemetery and funeral home locations including groundskeeping, locating grave sites, digging graves, installing crypt faces, and assisting with interments, entombments and inurnments. Responsibilities include cutting grass, maintaining lawns, removing debris, setting up for chapel services, preparing crypts for entombments, operating backhoes under supervision, installing grave markers, maintaining equipment, and performing general repairs and safety/compliance duties (OSHA). Requires ability to operate hand-held tools, lift up to 150 lbs with assistance, push/pull up to 300 lbs, work in extreme weather, and communicate effectively with families and staff.
Required Qualifications
- High school education or equivalent or relevant work experience
- Minimum 6 months of relevant experience
- Ability to operate hand-held tools and equipment including shovel, sledge hammer, lawn mower, weed trimmer, leaf blower
- Ability to walk and stand for long periods
- Ability to lift up to 150 lbs with equipment assistance
- Ability to push and pull up to 300 lbs
- Ability to communicate effectively with associates, contractor personnel and client families
- Ability to work in extreme weather conditions
- Ability to adapt to changing work schedules and multi-tasking
- Basic computer skills to enable retrieving and responding to email communications
