Job Summary
Perform general maintenance and repair of building structures, mechanical, electrical, and sanitary systems throughout the district, including assisting skilled workers with woodwork, electrical fixtures, plumbing, and glass replacement. Inspect building exteriors, interiors, playground equipment, and grounds to detect needed major repairs, then complete repairs as directed on work orders or by the maintenance foreman. Assist with mowing, detailing grounds, and moving, installing, and assembling school furniture and playground equipment. Follow established safety procedures, correct unsafe conditions, and report non-correctable issues to the supervisor while maintaining tools and equipment. Work days or nights as assigned, lifting up to 50 pounds and climbing, crawling, or kneeling as required.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED
- valid Texas driver's license
- ability to maintain and operate light equipment
- ability to make minor repairs to building furniture and equipment
- ability to follow written and verbal instructions
- Knowledge of basic construction and routine maintenance and repair procedures
- ability to operate hand and power tools
- must be able to function alone or in a team environment
- must be able to lift 50 pounds, climb, crawl, and kneel
- be able work days or nights as assigned
