Job Summary

Maintain buildings and equipment for the assigned department under supervision. Perform preventative maintenance, repairs, and service work on machinery, including painting, carpentry, plumbing, and electrical tasks. Operate heavy equipment such as drill presses, chain saws, and lawn mowers while repairing sidewalks, sewer lines, and building slabs. Assist in special set-ups and prepare floors, occasionally replacing broken tile or finishing furniture. Execute electrical and acetylene welding, brazing, and soldering as needed. Complete other duties as assigned. This role supports the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service's 4-H Youth Development department in Brownwood, Texas, contributing to the university system's mission of improving lives and the environment through education and service.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • One year of related experience
  • Ability to multi task and work cooperatively with others
  • All positions are security-sensitive
  • Applicants are subject to a criminal history investigation
  • Employment is contingent upon the institution's verification of credentials and/or other information required by the institution's procedures
  • Completion of the criminal history check

Desired Qualifications

  • Excellent oral, written, and electronic communication skills
  • Ability to effectively use personal computer to communicate, prepare proposals to include cost information on spreadsheet as applicable, and provide reports of activities
  • Ability to effectively communicate with faculty, students and staff
