Maintenance Worker - Facilities

Job Summary

Perform general maintenance, repair, and preventative work on county facilities, grounds, and infrastructure. Conduct regular inspections of plumbing, HVAC, and electrical systems, while assisting with drywall, painting, carpentry, and minor repairs. Operate skid steer, mini-excavator, and forklift equipment for maintenance tasks and manage inventory of tools and materials. Respond to emergencies such as leaks, outages, and storm damage, and perform snow removal, lawn mowing, and groundskeeping duties. Maintain accurate logs of work performed and follow OSHA safety standards. This role requires a valid Class E driver's license, two years of relevant experience, and the ability to lift up to 100 pounds. On-call shifts and early morning or late evening hours are required.

Required Qualifications

  • HS diploma or GED
  • 2 years previous relevant work experience
  • Valid Class E drivers license
  • Ability to read and follow work orders and technical manuals
  • Knowledge of OSHA and county safety standards
  • Physical strength and endurance to perform labor
  • Skill in operating light and heavy equipment
  • Ability to identify maintenance issues and recommend repairs
  • Knowledge of preventive maintenance methods and materials
  • Ability to work independently and within a team
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Commitment to safe work practices and attention to detail
  • Ability to maintain accurate maintenance records
  • Basic computer and email proficiency
  • Flexibility to respond to after-hours maintenance calls
  • Commitment to teamwork and dependable service
  • Basic math and measurement skills for estimating materials
  • Must be able to lift up to 100 pounds
  • Must be able to stand, walk for extended periods of time
  • Must be able to complete repetitive wrist, hand, and/or fine motor movement
  • Must be able to grasp, pull, push, and reach
  • Must be able to climb and balance
  • Must be able to drive and/or operate mechanical equipment
  • Must have visual acuity of 20 feet or more, visual acuity of 20 inches or less, three dimensional vision, precise hand/eye coordination, the ability to identify and distinguish colors
  • Must be able to stoop, kneel, crouch, and/or crawl
  • On-call shift work required
  • May require early morning or late evening hours
  • On-call shifts required
