Job Summary
Conduct general upkeep and cleaning of parish buildings and grounds, including sweeping, mopping, dusting, and disinfecting surfaces. Perform plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and minor repair work on facilities while assisting the Director of Maintenance with projects involving ladders and tools. Manage routine tasks such as floor waxing, window washing, carpet cleaning, HVAC servicing, and lighting maintenance. Collect and dispose of trash, sanitize restrooms, restock supplies, and set up or break down rooms for parish events. Keep outdoor areas clean and secure entry points by locking doors and reporting unauthorized access or safety hazards. Lift over 50 pounds, work in various weather conditions, and adhere to Safe Environment Training and diocesan guidelines.
Required Qualifications
- Must possess janitorial skills and general knowledge of proper cleaning techniques, sanitation, and janitorial supplies and their applications
- Working knowledge of standard tools, materials, methods and safety practices involved in building, grounds maintenance and repair, including, but not limited to carpentry, plumbing, electrical, mechanical and painting
- Ability to maintain a cooperative attitude and effective working relationship with all departments, Church groups, employees, volunteers and Parishioners
- Ability to perform assigned tasks independently with minimum supervision, with a strong attention to detail, and manage multiple tasks efficiently at the same time
- Able to read and follow verbal and written instructions
- Comfort working in various weather conditions for outdoor maintenance
- Ability to lift over 50 pounds without assistance and must be able to perform strenuous tasks
- Ability to move and use ladders, lifts, scaffolds and other related equipment
- Knowledge of hazards and safety work practices related to custodial care, building and campus maintenance
- Flexibility to work early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed for parish events
- Adherence to Safe Environment Training and diocesan guidelines for working in a parish setting
- Ability to speak, read and understand English
- Valid AZ driver's license
- Ability to pass a background check
- High School Diploma
