Job Summary
Perform major and minor mechanical repairs on City-owned gasoline, CNG, and diesel-powered equipment, including garbage trucks, fire trucks, and backhoes. Diagnose problems and malfunctions on vehicles, plan work procedures, and determine necessary parts. Complete and enter work orders into the computer while maintaining tools and keeping the work area clean. Install emergency equipment such as light bars and sirens on Police and Fire vehicles. Attend schools and workshops to further education and maintain all necessary licenses and certifications. Work the assigned schedule and comply with City timekeeping and attendance policy.
Required Qualifications
- One year certificate from college or technical school
- Two years related experience and/or training
- Equivalent combination of education and experience
- Valid Texas Driver's License
- Own tools
- Must have and maintain, without interruption, all necessary licenses, certifications, clearances, and/or job requirements
- Valid Texas Class B Driver's License
Desired Qualifications
- ASE certifications in Engine Repair
- ASE certifications in Electronics
- At least one additional ASE certification
- Fire Fighting apparatus experience
