Job Summary
Perform routine and emergency repairs in residential apartments, healthcare buildings, and public areas, including troubleshooting electrical issues, plumbing fixtures, doors, locks, lighting, and HVAC equipment. Complete work orders accurately and document all repairs and equipment information. Respond to emergency calls involving system or equipment failures and assist with campus projects, seasonal duties, and snow removal. Maintain appropriate inventory levels of maintenance materials and supplies while participating in scheduled and on-call overtime as needed.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Working knowledge of residential building maintenance, including plumbing, electrical, flooring, appliances, and HVAC systems
- Ability to communicate effectively with residents and staff
- Ability to work under general supervision and prioritize responsibilities independently
- Strong integrity, flexibility, and customer service skills
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team
- Lift up to 50 pounds independently
- Use a hand truck or request assistance for loads greater than 50 pounds
- Stand and walk for extended periods throughout the shift
- Frequently bend, push, pull, reach, and climb ladders
- Move furniture and maintenance equipment as needed
- Work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions while performing campus maintenance duties
Desired Qualifications
- One to two years of maintenance experience in a residential apartment community, commercial building, construction environment, or similar setting
