Job Summary
Maintenance Technician in student housing handles a variety of hands-on tasks and duties including completing work orders within 24 hours, making-ready turns, grounds and common-area upkeep, and maintaining positive resident relations. Responsibilities include reporting issues to the Maintenance Supervisor and Community Manager, conducting daily and weekly inspections, keeping time records, coordinating with vendors, and providing on-call coverage. Requires foundational knowledge of electric, plumbing, HVAC, and basic construction; strong mechanical aptitude; ability to read/write simple communications; effective customer service and communication skills; ownership of personal tools; ability to work weekends/overtime and climb work sites; adherence to safety standards (MSDS/OSHA/EPA) and active participation in safety and maintenance processes.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Certified HVAC as required
- Valid driver’s license and proof of insurance
- Must have own tools
- Able to climb and work from ladders; able to lift and carry heavy loads
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos; write simple correspondence
- Excellent customer service skills; good communication and listening skills
- Organized and detail-oriented; able to work weekends or overtime as job requires
- Able to follow directions from a supervisor; maintain confidentiality
