Job Summary
Maintenance Technician provides routine and preventative maintenance of equipment and the interior and exterior structure of the building; performs mechanical duties as assigned. Responsibilities include minor plumbing, electrical repair, carpentry, painting, exterior maintenance, snow/ice removal, setting up and tearing down (tables/chairs) for events, replacing light fixtures/bulbs, moving furniture, and supporting the Director of Facilities. Requires passing competencies, adherence to parish policies, confidentiality, and alignment with Catholic Church mission; must have strong teamwork, mechanical and multi-trade knowledge (mechanics, plumbing, carpentry, electrical, painting, gas motors, hydraulics, boilers), and ability to read manuals and communicate effectively.
Required Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent; Mechanical training and certification are preferred.
- Experience: A minimum of one year of previous maintenance experience is required.
- Background checks: Compliance with BCI&I background checks and completion of Protecting God’s Children program.
- Skills: Strong basic knowledge in mechanics, plumbing, carpentry, electrical, painting, gas motors, hydraulics, hot water and steam boilers, and the use of a chain saw.
- Language: Ability to read and comprehend equipment manuals and instructions; communicate with co-workers and parishioners.
