Job Summary
Coordinate maintenance services and activities with related departments while making reports to the Executive Director. Assist in establishing preventive maintenance programs, repairing facility property, and supervising outside vendors to ensure cost-effective repairs. Inspect storage rooms, workrooms, and utility closets for upkeep, and participate in facility surveys to develop plans correcting maintenance deficiencies. Monitor safety and fire protection programs by inspecting work areas weekly, ensuring proper use of personal protective equipment, and managing waste disposal policies. Be prepared to handle emergencies and perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- high school education or its equivalent
- knowledgeable of boilers, compressors, generators, etc., as well as various mechanical, electrical & plumbing systems
- ability to read and interpret blueprints
- knowledgeable in building codes and safety regulations
- ability to read, write, speak and understand the English language
- ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action
- ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel, and the general public
- ability to move intermittently throughout the workday
- flexibility, personal integrity, and the ability to work effectively with the residents, personnel, and support agencies
- general health requirements set forth by the policies of this facility, which include a medical and physical examination
- ability to relate to and work with ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset, and at times, hostile people within the facility
- ability to push, pull move, and/or lift a minimum of 25 pounds to a minimum height of 5 feet and be able to push, pull, move, and/or carry such weight a minimum of 50 feet
