Maintenance Technician

Job Summary

Complete maintenance requests including hands-on building repairs, preventive maintenance, and general property upkeep. Maintain exterior grounds and common areas through trash removal, sweeping, watering, and snow removal as needed. Assist in prioritizing work orders, scheduling activities, and obtaining vendor bids for special projects. Prepare vacant units for new residents via painting, cleaning, and repair work. Perform emergency repairs and respond to after-hours maintenance requests per the on-call rotation. Utilize technology platforms to document completed work and track resource needs. Maintain safe work environments and adequate inventory levels of supplies and equipment.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent
  • Demonstrated experience in all phases of building maintenance, including but not limited to appliance repair, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and preventive maintenance
  • Willingness to learn and develop skills across multiple maintenance disciplines
  • Proficiency with technology and the ability to quickly learn and utilize maintenance management software and other digital platforms
  • Working knowledge of building systems, maintenance practices, and safety procedures
  • Ability to safely operate maintenance tools, equipment, and machinery necessary to perform assigned duties

Desired Qualifications

  • Minimum of two (2) years of apartment maintenance experience
  • Certified Maintenance & Reliability Technician (CMRT) certification
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with residents, vendors, contractors, and team members
  • Ability to demonstrate sound judgment and effective problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively as part of a team
  • Strong customer service skills with a commitment to resident satisfaction
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and respond effectively to changing operational needs
