Job Summary
Maintenance Technician role focused on preventative maintenance of vessels and facilities under the Port Engineer’s direction. Responsibilities include safety advocacy, adherence to RESPECT values and Code of Conduct, troubleshooting and executing maintenance tasks (fluid changes, filter changes, minor repairs), using power tools, managing supplies and hazmat handling, assisting with shore power connections, cleaning and custodial duties, following safety, SDS, SMS and ship instructions, coordinating with Port Engineer/Port Captain, and ensuring regulatory compliance and professional customer service.
Required Qualifications
- HS Diploma
- Valid Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC Card)
- Valid First Aid/CPR Certification
- Valid Driver’s License
- Copy of DD214 (if Veteran status)
- General Mechanical knowledge
- Minimum one (1) year experience with general mechanics and electrical systems
- Previous marine experience or watch standing preferred
- Proven track record of working successfully in a team environment
- Ability to use independent judgment and discretion to develop and execute innovative solutions to crew management and morale issues
- Logically and independently plan, organize, and complete work assignments
- Demonstrate well-developed interpersonal skills
- Set and achieve high standards of performance
- Demonstrate initiative and be able to make progress on multiple assignments under time constraints
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to effectively interact with fellow employees
- Ability to work in fast-paced, quickly changing environment
- General computer skills
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Submit to and pass alcohol and drug tests as mandated by the USCG
