Job Summary
Maintenance Technician/Porter at CommonPlace responsible for preparing apartments for new residents, responding to service requests, and maintaining the appearance and function of apartments, amenities, grounds, and buildings. Will oversee vendor work, manage supplies and inventory, ensure OSHA/compliance with safety policies, perform routine and preventative maintenance, assist with the bid process and training of maintenance team members, handle on-site needs including lock changes and snow/ice removal, and participate in an on-call rotation with after-hours response. Requires apartment maintenance or handyman experience; HVAC certification, plumbing, and electrical knowledge preferred; must be able to lift up to 50 lbs, operate power and hand tools safely, travel between nearby properties, and hold a valid driver’s license. Required Qualifications
- Apartment maintenance or handyman experience required
- Knowledge of HVAC (certification a plus), plumbing, and electrical preferred
- Self-motivated with strong attention to detail
- Comfortable using power tools and hand tools safely
- Positive, professional, and resident-focused attitude
- Supervisory or training experience preferred
- Must be able to stand, walk, and/or sit for extended periods of time and bend, stoop, climb ladders, reach, carry objects, and crawl in confined areas
- Must be able to regularly push, pull, lift, carry, or maneuver weights of up to 50lbs independently
- Willingness to be on-call and work some weekends
- Ability to travel between nearby properties and complete supply pickups
- Valid driver’s license and auto-insurance
