Job Summary
Maintenance Technician position with Pacifica Housing in Victoria, BC. Responsible for completing maintenance work orders per schedule and delivering quality workmanship across plumbing, appliance, drywall, painting and minor electrical repairs; residential installation and assembly (doors, blinds, etc.); posting notices under the Residential Tenancy Act; turnover cleaning and repairs to Society specifications; reporting safety incidents; completing maintenance paperwork and mileage claims; maintaining cooperative relationships with staff and tenants; working independently to meet deadlines and reporting progress to the Manager of Maintenance. Requires high school diploma or GED, maintenance experience, proficiency with hand and electrical tools, trade skills in painting, drywall, door hardware, and carpentry; must pass Vulnerable Sector Criminal Record Check, hold a valid driver’s license with vehicle insurance, be available for on-call emergency work, and hold a Basic First Aid Certificate. Union: BCGEU. Schedule: Full-time, 8:30am–4:00pm, Sunday to Thursday; benefits include living wage, vacation, extended health/dental, pension, EAP, and more.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Experience as a maintenance technician or similar position
- Experience using hand and electrical tools
- Trade skills including painting, drywall patching and installation, door hardware repairs, carpentry repairs
- Completion of a Vulnerable Sector Criminal Record Check before employment
- Valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle with minimum $2 million liability insurance
- Available to be on call for emergency call outs
- Basic First Aid Certificate
- Experience in residential building maintenance including carpentry, plumbing and electrical
- Knowledge of Residential Tenancy Act compliance
