Maintenance Technician

Job Summary
Conduct general building maintenance including preventative maintenance, minor repairs, and completion of work orders for resident units, common areas, and grounds. Perform carpentry, painting, and cleaning duties while supervising outside service personnel and vendors as needed. Manage security systems, fire alarms, and door locks alongside landscaping tasks such as lawn mowing and hedge trimming. Maintain logs, records, and Material Data Safety Sheets while ensuring all residents and staff are treated with respect in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. Report major repair needs and complaints to supervisors immediately.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- One to two years maintenance experience
- Knowledge of janitorial equipment and maintenance procedures
- Good mechanical and problem solving abilities
- Ability to coordinate well with others and professionally assist others as needed
- Attentive to detail
- Working knowledge of computer or tablet software
- Ability to understand data and carry out verbal and written instructions
- Valid driver's license
- Ability to meet National Church Residences' motor vehicle policy
- Ability to communicate and understand English
- Ability and means to travel on a flexible schedule as needed
- Proof of liability and property damage insurance on vehicle used is required
- Must be knowledgeable and adhere to fair housing laws
- Ability to effectively lead and coach others
- Strong attention to detail
- Good communication, comprehension and interpersonal skills
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved instructions
- Ability to perform very basic math skills including adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing two digit numbers
- Ability to perform the four basic arithmetic operations with money
- Ability to perform operations with units such as inch, foot, and yard; ounce and pound (or their metric counterparts)
- Ability to communicate and understand English
