Maintenance Technician - Mayo Civic Center

Job Summary

Perform routine and extensive preventative maintenance and repair on mechanical equipment and utility systems at the Mayo Civic Center. Execute skilled carpentry, plumbing, masonry, roofing, and construction work while providing ground maintenance including snow removal and parking area painting. Lubricate machinery, install electrical wiring, and conduct general Food & Beverage equipment repairs. Operate forklifts, aerial lifts, and power tools as needed. Maintain daily activity logs, manage Building Management Systems, and initiate cost-effective purchase requisitions. Respond to promoter requests, assist Operations Crew with set-up changes, and interact with guests courteously. Maintain a safe work environment complying with OSHA regulations and lockout/tag-out procedures. On-call status for building emergencies and inclement weather.

Required Qualifications

  • Skilled and semi-skilled maintenance and repair in carpentry, plumbing, HVAC, Mechanical and Electrical
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to display customer service through initiation of contact, smiling, extending handshakes, courteous and friendly
  • Must have the ability to interact with guests in a friendly, courteous and polite manner
  • Must feel comfortable when around large groups or speaking to a guest, as needed
  • Provides exceptional customer service at all times to internal and external customers
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs
  • Must be able to walk, stand or bend for extended periods of time
  • Ability to read and understand schematic diagrams
  • Ability to maintain written daily activity log
  • Ability to request, compare and advise most cost-effective purchasing
  • Ability to initiate Purchase Requisitions
  • Ability to maintain, monitor and adjust Building Management System
  • Ability to maintain strong working relationship with outside contractors and vendors
  • Ability to operate forklift, aerial lift, snow removal equipment power tools and associated equipment
  • Ability to work under deadlines dictated by event schedules and project timetables
  • Must comply with all OSHA regulations
  • Must ensure facility is in compliance with OSHA regulations
  • Must follow all lockout and tag out procedures
  • Must be available for on-call status for building emergencies and inclement weather responsibilities
  • Must be able to assist Operations Crew with set-up changes as needed
  • Must be able to respond to promoter requests and event requirements
