Job Summary
Install, repair, and maintain mechanical and electrical equipment, buildings, and facilities while reading schematics and diagnosing trouble. Use rigging, welding, cutting, and power tools to replace parts and perform hoisting operations. Operate mobile equipment and direct activities when assigned, training inexperienced employees on the job. Keep work areas clean, report hazardous conditions, and fill out required records. Work in cooperation with the Production department and follow J-M Eagle guidelines. Perform other miscellaneous jobs as directed.
Required Qualifications
- Electrical and mechanical experience
- Complete capability to read and make mechanical and electrical drawings
- Good knowledge of electrical codes
- 2+ years experience in maintenance repairs
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume
- Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
- Sight capabilities to distinguish proper product identification as well as warning and operational indicators
- Hearing capabilities to distinguish differences in warning alarm indicators and standard operation indicators
- Sight capabilities to identify accuracy and neatness of required job assignments
- Balancing to maintain body equilibrium to prevent falling when walking, standing or crouching in all areas due to possible limited observation
- Ability to verbally communicate either face to face or via telephone with other employees to accomplish all assigned job requirements
- Hear and understand verbal communication whether it be face to face or via telephone
- Ability to confirm by sight quality level of raw materials and products produced to determine acceptance and or denial of each
- Lift 26-50 pounds and carry it up to 30 feet
- Walking through, under and around equipment with a clearance of 30"
- Activate and use telephone, computer, and calculator
- Ability to feel objects, such as textures, size and shape and to determine temperature by touching of skin, primarily by that of finger tips
- Ability to grasp office utensils and use them in accordance with a safe working manner so as not to injure oneself or fellow employees
- Possesses a working knowledge of mechanical and electrical drawings
- Possesses a working knowledge of mechanical drawings and sketches, and understands and reads electrical schematics and the necessary tools of the trade
- Possesses the necessary tools of the trade
- Uses safe working practices and reports hazardous conditions at all times
- Possesses a working knowledge of the following equipment: Arc and gas welding and cutting equipment, Power tools such as drill press, cut-off saw, and portable power tools, Hand tools of the mechanical and electrical trades, Hoisting equipment, Mobile and hoisting equipment
