Job Summary
Maintenance Technician II is responsible for supporting day-to-day campus facilities operations across academic, residential, and administrative buildings through preventive maintenance, repairs, event support, and responsive customer service. The role collaborates with Facilities staff to respond to service requests, troubleshoot issues, support campus events, and participate in on-call emergency operations. The position requires safety-conscious, dependable, and team-oriented work, with the ability to operate tools, service vehicles, and navigate multiple maintenance disciplines while upholding SPU’s Christian mission and workplace standards.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Minimum of three years of experience in building maintenance, construction, facilities operations, or a related field
- Ability to troubleshoot maintenance issues and follow written and verbal instructions
- Demonstrated reliability, good judgment, and commitment to workplace safety
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Valid driver's license with a good driving record
- Ability to operate a university service vehicle
- Ability to perform physical work, including lifting, carrying, climbing ladders, working at heights, and working in indoor and outdoor environments in varying weather conditions
- Ability to work in confined spaces and access building systems as needed
- Mission alignment with Christian faith and SPU values
- Ability to obtain and maintain asbestos and lead renovator certifications (training provided)
