Job Summary
Maintenance Technician II at Wake Forest University oversees reactive and preventive maintenance across campus facilities, with proficiency in electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, and painting tasks. Responsibilities include repairing electrical systems, installing motors and belts, maintaining plumbing lines and fixtures, servicing industrial HVAC units, operating and troubleshooting Building Management Systems, performing carpentry repairs, patching and painting ceilings and walls, and supporting general maintenance in assigned buildings. The role requires attention to safety policies, strong communication with staff and customers, and the ability to perform preventive maintenance tasks and complete work orders. The position may be designated essential personnel and requires compliance with university policies and procedures.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma plus specialized training with five to ten years related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Proficient knowledge and skills in the preventive maintenance, repair, and installation of building systems including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and building interiors
- Valid driver's license with a good driving record; must be insurable
- Ability to effectively communicate in English with students, faculty, and staff
- Ability to read, understand and abide by all safety policies and procedures
- Ability to effectively utilize computer software and systems to communicate, monitor, interface, and troubleshoot systems as required
- Ability to utilize an Ipad or similar device to work with Maintenance Management System
- Heavy work tasks including talking, hearing, climbing, stooping, kneeling, standing, walking, lifting, pushing, pulling, grasping
