Maintenance Technician I - DC Facilities

Job Summary
Conduct troubleshooting, repairs, and preventive maintenance on facility machinery, electrical systems, HVAC, plumbing, and industrial vehicles. Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and fire suppression issues while performing root-cause analysis to reduce downtime. Install, repair, and fabricate electrical control systems, motors, and structural components using welding and precision hand tools. Document all work orders, track maintenance activities, and update PM records in the CMMS. Maintain spare parts inventory, ensure 5S compliance, and coordinate with contractors for specialized services. Perform continuous improvement projects and facility modifications as needed. Work flexible schedules including nights, weekends, and holidays, with occasional travel to off-site locations.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 21 years of age
- High school Diploma or GED
- one to three or more years of related experience
- equivalent combination of experience and/or higher education
- Ability to work independently and safely, including at heights
- Ability to work on-call and flexible schedules including nights, weekends, and holidays
- Ability to use knives/box cutters
- Ability to operate heavy machinery/ hazardous equipment
- Ability to operate a forklift/pallet jack
- Ability to use precision hand tools
- Ability to comprehend and interpret information
- Ability to reason, form concepts and recognize and solve problems
- Ability to occasionally travel to off-site and out-of-town locations
- Must be attentive to potential hazards and remedy or place appropriate warning signs or devices around or near the hazard as soon as is reasonably possible
- Must report any potential hazards that cannot be immediately remedied to a supervisor
- Continuously required to stand or walk
- Continuously required to use hands for reaching, touching or handling
- Continuously required to use close vision, distance vision, depth perception or the ability to focus
- Frequently required to talk and hear

Desired Qualifications
- 1–3 years of experience in maintenance or troubleshooting in electrical, mechanical, hydraulic/pneumatic, plumbing, HVAC, or fire suppression systems
- Completion of vocational or technical school
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 Certification
- EPA 608 refrigerant handling certification
- forklift/material handling equipment (MHE) certification
- NCCER or similar electrical/mechanical coursework
- Ability to perform basic welding and fabrication tasks (MIG/TIG/Stick experience preferred)
- Basic knowledge of electrical and mechanical troubleshooting
- Basic knowledge of hand tools, power tools, multimeters, and diagnostic equipment
- Basic knowledge of safety procedures including LOTO, fall protection, NFPA 70E, and OSHA regulations
- Basic knowledge of Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) and spare parts inventory management
- Basic mechanical skills
- Basic welding skills
- Basic mathematical skills
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Word, and Outlook
- Basic knowledge of mechanical, electrical, HVAC, pneumatic/hydraulic, and plumbing systems
- Ability to learn new technology systems, methods and processes
- Ability to communicate effectively in written and verbal form
- Ability to use a forklift/pallet jack
