Job Summary
Conduct maintenance and repair of sidewalks, grounds, landscaping, roads, and City assets. Patch street holes with lime rock base, asphalt, or #57 rock; maintain and install traffic signs and devices. Clear brush and debris from right of ways, load/unload heavy materials, and perform carpentry, cement work, painting, and general labor. Operate asphalt trucks, rollers, street saws, chainsaws, and various vehicles including vans and pickups. Maintain City equipment such as mowers, hand tools, power tools, and work zone safety gear. Clean interiors and exteriors of public buildings and property. Work cooperatively with co-workers while implementing verbal and written orders.
Required Qualifications
- Knowledge of and skills in utilizing hand and power tools
- Skills in utilizing bucket truck
- Skills in utilizing dump truck
- Skills in utilizing forklift
- Skills in utilizing backhoe
- Ability to manufacture traffic control devices
- Ability to drive manual and automatic transmission vehicles
- Basic knowledge of AC and DC electrical circuits
- Basic knowledge of carpentry
- Basic knowledge of plumbing
- Ability to maintain and operate a zero turn mower
- Ability to operate a utility cart
- Ability to operate a weed eater
- Ability to safely and properly operate and maintain various types of construction equipment
- Ability to safely and properly operate and maintain vehicles
- Ability to safely and properly operate and maintain power and hand tools
- Ability to read instruments
- Ability to operate survey equipment
- Ability to establish grades
- Ability to prepare reports
- Ability to climb
- Ability to crawl
- Ability to stoop
- Use of both hands with majority of fingers
- 20/40 vision (in at least one eye)
- Ability to hear and understand and verbally communicate in English at normal conversational levels
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of one year of general labor experience
- Possess and maintain a valid State of Florida Commercial Driver's License, Class B or higher with air brake endorsement
- Ability to get a CDL Permit within 3 months of hire
- Ability to get the license within 12 months
- Subject to call out in emergencies
- Ability to work on holidays
- Ability to work on weekends
- Ability to load and unload heavy materials
- Ability to move equipment
- Ability to move large bulky objects
- Ability to keep track of and maintain City equipment
- Ability to work safely, diligently and responsibly
