Maintenance Technician I

Job Summary
Perform preventive maintenance, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and electromechanical equipment on manufacturing systems. Diagnose failures, implement corrective actions, and install components such as motors, pumps, conveyors, and valves using diagnostic tools and technical documentation. Maintain accurate records, support continuous improvement initiatives, and collaborate with production teams to minimize downtime. Assist with facility projects, inventory management, and root cause analysis while adhering to safety protocols and lockout/tagout procedures. This entry-level role supports AAON and BASX in designing and manufacturing highly configurable HVAC and critical environment systems.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- 2+ years of experience in industrial maintenance, manufacturing maintenance, mechanical maintenance, or a related technical field
- Ability to evaluate equipment conditions and determine appropriate corrective actions
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and decision-making capabilities
- Ability to perform maintenance activities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
- Ability to work at heights exceeding 3 feet using ladders, lifts, platforms, and other access equipment
- Ability to work in confined spaces and restricted-access areas when required
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 lbs. regularly
- Ability to use fine and gross motor skills when operating tools, testing equipment, and performing repairs
- Ability to distinguish colors for electrical wiring identification and diagnostic activities
- Ability to work overtime, weekends, or alternative schedules as required to support operational demands
- Commitment to workplace safety and adherence to established procedures
- Willingness to participate in ongoing technical and professional development
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately
- Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office and maintenance management systems
- Basic mathematical skills related to maintenance measurements and calculations
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, schematics, and equipment drawings
- Ability to troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair manufacturing equipment and machinery
- Proficiency in the use of hand tools, power tools, measuring instruments, and diagnostic equipment
- Understanding of preventive maintenance practices and equipment reliability concepts
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
- Effective communication and teamwork abilities
- Required use of personal protective equipment (PPE) including safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, hard hats, and other equipment as necessary
Desired Qualifications
- Technical school training, vocational certification, apprenticeship program completion, or associate degree in Industrial Maintenance, Mechatronics, Electrical Technology, or a related discipline
- Journeyman certification
- Lockout/Tagout training
- Forklift certification
- Welding certification
- Other maintenance-related certifications
- Experience utilizing computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS)
