Job Summary
Maintain buildings and grounds by performing routine painting, plumbing, electrical wiring, and landscaping tasks including trimming, pruning, and irrigation repairs. Execute work assignments from orders, keep departments clean, and ensure tools and equipment remain in safe working condition. Monitor preventive maintenance schedules, clean drainage systems, and notify management of major repair needs while adhering to tribal laws and safety protocols.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or General Education Diploma
- six months work experience in facilities or maintenance
- equivalent combination of training, education, and work experience which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of this position
- valid driver's license
- no DUIs or major traffic citations within the last three years
- fluency in both the Tohono O'odham Language and English
Desired Qualifications
- Knowledge of the Tohono O'odham culture, customs, and traditions
- Knowledge of applicable federal, state, tribal laws, regulations and requirements
- Knowledge of departmental rules, policies and procedures
- Knowledge of use of maintenance tools, chemicals, cleaners, and disinfectants
- Knowledge of light construction methods tools safety practices and precautions
- Knowledge of basic plumbing, carpentry, electrical and general building repair
- Skill in basic math and measurement system
- Skill in providing superior customer service to external and internal customers
- Ability to use hand tools and lawn maintenance equipment
- Ability to follow instructions in verbal and written format
- Ability to communicate efficiently and effectively both verbally and in writing
- Ability to establish and maintain positive and effective working relationships with other employees and the general public
- Ability to maintain privileged confidential information
- Ability to work independently and meet strict time lines
- Ability to work extended hours and various work schedules
