Maintenance Technician/ Handyperson

Job Summary
Assist the Chief Engineer with day-to-day maintenance, including planned preventative maintenance, repairs, and guest requests logged in the Property Management System. Conduct daily plant and facility inspections across front and back of house areas to identify and rectify faults, while performing tasks such as painting, grouting, AC unit maintenance, and minor plumbing repairs. Prioritize urgent and emergency issues, liaise with relevant departments to restore out-of-order areas, and maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities and expenses. Work effectively with contractors and suppliers to ensure safe, cost-effective operations while complying with workplace health and safety policies. Perform duties on a shift roster basis, including a seven-day schedule, with the ability to work independently under pressure.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 12 years demonstrated experience in general building maintenance, preferably within a hotel, resort or hospitality environment
- Relevant trade qualifications include painting, air conditioning, refrigeration, plumbing, and mechanical malfunctions are desirable. Qualification or experience in Plumbing is preferred
- Additional experience in the trades field including repairs, refurbishing, cleaning, heating and maintenance administration
- Practical, hands-on approach with experience using a variety of hand tools and basic power tools
- Basic computer skills and good written and spoken English
- Sound understanding of workplace health and safety (WHS) requirements
- Physically fit and capable of safely performing the duties of the role
- Self-motivated, energetic and willing to learn, with a positive attitude and a strong focus on hotel operations
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, demonstrate initiative and effectively manage competing priorities
- Strong time management and organisational skills, with the ability to multitask and work effectively under pressure
- Service-oriented with strong attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality outcomes
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with team members, management, contractors and people from diverse cultural backgrounds
- Strong personal integrity and the ability to act as a role model
- Flexible and adaptable, with the ability to embrace and respond effectively to change
- Ability and willingness to work a variety of shifts across a seven-day roster

- Must have a valid NSW RSA
- Must be willing to undergo a police check
