Job Summary
Repair or replace plant equipment and systems on both scheduled and emergency bases, performing preventative maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting of electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic instruments. Diagnose motor and drive failures, read schematics, and execute corrective actions for hydraulic, electronic, and control systems while adhering to strict safety protocols. Collaborate across departments to coordinate work, manage multiple priorities, and assist with new installations as requested. Participate in a revolving call-in schedule and be available for scheduled or call-in overtime. Requires forklift certification, valid driver's license, and ability to work in standing, kneeling, or crouched positions within a facility handling fermentation vessels, distillation columns, and toxic chemicals.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent certificate
- 2 years experience in maintenance or repair of mechanical equipment; pumps, valves, compressors, electrical or Instrumentation
- Knowledge of and strict attention to safety precautions and rules
- Valid Driver's License
- Ability to climb ladders and work at elevations up to and exceeding 175 feet
- Fine visual acuity to read for accuracy and troubleshoot equipment
- The ability to feel and sense hot and cold
- Travel may be required on an as needed basis
- Lifting of up to 50 pounds occasionally
Desired Qualifications
- College degree or technical degree/certification; millwright, electrician, welder, pipe-fitter or Instrumentation
- Welding knowledge and experience on carbon / stainless steel
- Experience with a computerized Preventative Maintenance System
- Forklift certified or capable of achieving certification
- PLC; relay logic troubleshooting; able to diagnose motor and drive failures
- Ability to provide solutions quickly and accurately even in stressful situations
- Ability to work well with others and be self-directed with only general supervision
- Rigging knowledge/experience
- Knowledge/experience operating mobile equipment including but not limited to forklift, telehandler, scissor lift, man basket
