Job Summary
Perform skilled carpentry, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and mechanical repair work on NVHC facilities, equipment, and buildings. Inspect sites to identify maintenance needs, install climate controls, repair plumbing fixtures, and construct or remodel facility components. Operate tools, drive between job sites, and respond to maintenance requests via ticket systems or telephone. Maintain preventative maintenance logs and read blueprints to interpret sketches and diagrams. Ensure all work follows safe practices and driver safety policies. Full-time, non-exempt role with Nevada driver's license required.
Required Qualifications
- Graduation for high school or the equivalent
- 2 years of experience in one or more of the building trades (HVAC, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, or carpentry)
- Must have and maintain a current Nevada driver's license
- Must meet NVHC's driver requirements, including regularly providing driving records, participating in driver training, and complying with NVHC Fleet Safety Policy
- Must be punctual, reliable, deadline-sensitive, and possess a pro-active mindset
Desired Qualifications
- If you have a minimum of 2 years working in building trades it is highly recommended you apply
- HVAC Certification is highly desirable
- 1 year of skilled facility maintenance experience is highly desirable
- Operational and maintenance techniques and procedures used in the repair of a full range of building facilities, equipment and systems
- Occupational hazards and necessary precautions applicable to building and mechanical maintenance work
- Tools and equipment used in building maintenance
- Safe work practices
- Ability to: Learn to perform a full range of skilled building maintenance and repair work
- Ability to: Read and interpret sketches, drawings, diagrams and blueprints
- Ability to: Lift and carry heavy objects – up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to: Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work
- Communicates in a professional and courteous manner, ability to hear and speak in person or converse over telephone
- Skill in operating a personal computer using basic software such as outlook (e-mail), Word, and Excel
- Ability to take direction and be well-organized
- Ability to analyze and interpret information, to solve practical problems with a variety of variables
- Ability to read, write legibly, and calculate fractional measurements
- Ability to work and interact effectively and positively with all levels of staff to build and enhance teamwork in clinics and the overall NVHC organization, as well as following the advice of supervisors
- Ability to understand and respond appropriately and sensitively to special population groups as defined by race, ethnicity, language, age, sex, etc.
