Job Summary
Implements maintenance procedures to repair, maintain, clean, organize, secure, and enhance the appearance of the facility while facilitating operations. Performs skilled trade duties in electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, and masonry, alongside basic handyman tasks such as replacing batteries, bulbs, and changing toilet seats. Conducts Life Safety Code inspections, performs preventative maintenance on equipment, and executes janitorial tasks as needed. Takes assignments from the work order system and directions from the Director of Facility Operations, assisting residents with minor needs when requested. Reports Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm with some flexibility, including on-call rotations for nights, weekends, and winter snow crew duties. Requires three years of maintenance experience in an institutional facility or CCRC, a valid driver's license, and the physical ability to lift up to 80 pounds.
Required Qualifications
- Physical condition allowing for normal maintenance duties including but not limited to; lifting (up to 80 pounds), bending, stooping, reaching, grabbing, pushing, pulling, standing or walking an entire shift, use of arms and hands with dexterity, climbing, ability to read and understand directions, procedures and manuals
- Appropriate math ability to perform job
- Ability to solve practical problems
- Ability to use many pieces of equipment including power tools, motorized equipment and vehicles, including a variety of snow removal equipment
- Communicate in a friendly manner to residents and coworkers in English
- Ability to pay attention to an assortment of details at one time
- Comfort in working in a Christian Retirement Center environment
- Adherences to all regulations specified in the Fairhaven employee handbook, procedures and policy documents
- Able to be on a rotation schedule for on-call nights and weekends for maintenance issues
- Able to work occasional overtime, including conducting late-night required fire drills
- Able to work on the snow crew in the winter, including on-call afterhours and weekends
- Three years maintenance experience in an institutional facility or CCRC
- Current valid Driver's License
Desired Qualifications
- Trade school completion and/or experience working in a skilled trade a plus
