Job Summary
Maintenance Technician Apprentice role on 1st shift in Rochester, NY. Under the guidance of senior technicians and managers, the apprentice engages in hands-on equipment maintenance, troubleshooting, and preventive tasks on manufacturing equipment, learns to read blueprints and machine documentation, operates shop equipment (grinders, lathes, drill presses, sanders, cranes, lift trucks), tracks work in SAP, adheres to GMP and safety standards, and enrolls in a state-certified 4-year apprenticeship program through MCC. The role emphasizes structured development through hands-on training, formal education, and participation in an approved apprenticeship, with opportunities to transition to more advanced maintenance duties and multiple site experiences. Compensation is provided as hourly pay with differential for additional shifts, plus comprehensive benefits.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Enrollment and successful completion of a state-certified 4-year apprenticeship program through MCC
- Basic mechanical and/or electrical experience
- Strong willingness to learn and develop new technical skills
- Demonstrated troubleshooting ability and logical problem-solving skills
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Basic computer proficiency including Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word
- Basic knowledge of SAP or ability to learn quickly
- Ability to obtain and maintain certification for stand-up and sit-down lift trucks
- Team-oriented mindset with a commitment to safety and continuous improvement
