Job Summary
Overhaul, repair, and test high-speed production equipment including ovens, packaging machines, mixers, cartoners, baggers, stuffers, and smoke houses throughout the facility. Diagnose and resolve issues related to drive trains, basic electrical systems, PLCs, motor control, hydraulic components, and pneumatics. Maintain spare parts inventory, order parts, and coordinate with management on locking and tagging systems. Prepare surfaces, maintain work area cleanliness, and complete required daily paperwork per quality guidelines. Train new hires on maintenance and safety practices while observing all GMPs, USDA guidelines, and safety requirements. Work the 10:00 PM to 6:30 AM shift with overtime and weekend availability.
Required Qualifications
- High School Graduate or GED
- Prior maintenance experience in a production environment
- Electrical ability
- Hydraulic ability
- Pneumatic ability
- Welding ability
- Understanding of drive train systems including belts, pulleys, sprockets, and chain drives
- Basic electrical knowledge including 110 single phase and 480 & 230 v 3 phase
- PLC operation knowledge
- Motor control knowledge
- Fabrication skills including welding, grinding, and assembly
- Hydraulic knowledge including motors, pumps, and valves
- Pneumatics knowledge including air valves and controls
- Ability to work overtime and weekends
- Ability to follow all safety, GMP's, and USDA guidelines
- Ability to complete required paperwork daily per Quality guidelines
- Ability to understand, use and update shop prints, specifications
- Ability to refer to manufacturer manual for servicing and installation of equipment and distribution systems
- Ability to determine workforce and material requirements
- Ability to recommend changes to work assignments
- Ability to prepare, paint surfaces and maintain cleanliness of work areas
- Ability to use tools and test equipment of the trade
- Ability to maintain spare parts inventory and order parts
- Ability to coordinate with Maintenance management when locking and tagging systems
- Ability to train new hires/transfers regarding proper maintenance and safety practices
