Job Summary
Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on food production and packaging equipment, including troubleshooting electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems. Respond to second-shift production breakdowns, identify root causes, and restore equipment to safe operation while executing work orders independently. Complete scheduled maintenance during production or sanitation windows, lead equipment installations and modifications, and maintain accurate records with clear shift-handoff notes. Uphold GMPs, food safety standards, and Lockout/Tagout protocols while communicating effectively with Production, QA, and leadership.
Required Qualifications
- Solid understanding of commercial electrical systems, troubleshooting, and repair
- Ability to read and interpret schematics, blueprints, and equipment manuals
- Ability to work independently, prioritize competing maintenance needs, and make sound decisions with minimal supervision once trained
- Ability to apply strong analytical and technical problem-solving skills under pressure while supporting active production
- Ability to communicate equipment status, completed repairs, and unresolved concerns clearly during shift handoffs
- Ability to remain dependable, adaptable, patient, and proactive in a fast-paced production environment
- Experience working on food production or packaging equipment is strongly preferred
- Experience supporting evening, off-shift, or independently staffed manufacturing operations is a plus
- Familiarity with Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) and industrial safety standards
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) communication skills is a plus
